UJJAIN, MP: Indian Skipper Rahul Dravid's mother Pushpa Dravid will be conferred with the 'Vikram Samman' by the Vikram University during the next 'All India Kalidas Samaroh' to be held in this temple town.

Pushpa Dravid, who was a student in the Art faculty of the university, will be honoured for her contribution in the field of painting.

The announcement was made by Vikram University Vice Chancellor Ram Rajesh Mishra during the golden jubilee programme of the university on Tuesday.

Dravid was also felicitated by the Vikram University and the Kalidas Sanskrit Academy during the programme.

Referring to paintings by students, Dravid, who was formerly Head of the Department (Painting) in the Bangalore University, said art is an object of learning.

It required concentration and involvement to make the brush move.

The Karnataka Lalit Kala Samman recipient refused to comment on Team India and her son's performance saying Rahul played for the country and she was confident that his performance would improve with time.

"I am proud to be Rahul's mother," added Dravid.
