NEW DELHI: The worst nightmare of the families of the minor girls and women, who were abducted, raped and brutally slaughtered in Noida’s Nithari village, have come true. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday filed the second charge-sheet in the serial killing case, without even mentioning about Moninder Singh Pandher, one of the co-accused in the case.

Officials of the CBI filed a charge-sheet in the murder of Pinki Sarkar, a resident of Nithari, who was lured in the D-5 house by Surinder Koli, the domestic help of Pandher, on the pretext of giving her a job. However, once inside the house Pinki was sexually assaulted and slaughtered by Koli, and her body disposed off. Investigators have said that the charge-sheet was filed on the basis of scientific evidence collected after studying the skeletal remains found from the house and from the drains near the lavish white bungalow of Pandher.

“We also have statement Surinder Koli made before a magistrate to back our charge-sheet,” said a senior CBI officer. He also said that Koli has admitted to killing 16 minors and women in the house. The officer further added that Pandher was not out of the woods yet, because his involvement would be mentioned in some of the other charge-sheets. “We still have to file charge-sheets in 17 cases. We think he was involved in three. Our investigations so far have lead us to believe that Pandher was not involved in murdering any of the minor girls and women,” he said.

The serial killings had come to light on Dec 29 last year when a police team found human remains from Pandher’s house while investigating a murder case. The CBI eventually recovered 715 skeletal remains and 57 bags of biomaterial from the house, and registered 19 cases. The first charge-sheet was filed on March 22.

Meanwhile, family members of the victims were furious after they came to know of the charge-sheet. “We have been saying for a long time that CBI has taken money and is protecting Pandher. We will try to start another investigation in the case,” said Ashok Kumar, whose 5-year-old son Satyendra, was allegedly murdered in the house.
