Sensex ends 80 pts up, RIL, Tata Steel lead rally

The Sensex ended on a firm note on Tuesday rising by over 80 points on the back of a rally in heavyweight Reliance Industries and Tata Steel stocks.

MUMBAI: The Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark Sensex ended on a firm note on Tuesday rising by over 80 points on the back of a rally in heavyweight Reliance Industries and Tata Steel stocks on late buying by funds and investors.

The BSE 30-share index (Sensex), which gained more than 17 points on Monday, gathered another 80.35 points, or 0.62 per cent to close at 12,982.98 after touching the day's high of 13,026.85 and a low of 12,817.62 points.

In likewise fashion, the second wide-based National Stock Exchange index Nifty closed 35.95 points higher at 3,770.55. It moved between 3,775.85 and a low of 3,717.15 points.

The major supporters to the Sensex were Reliance Industries, which gained Rs 10.90 at Rs 1,326.90, Tata Steel by Rs 8.35 at Rs 444.50, TCS by Rs 26.20 at Rs 1,264.50 and Larsen and Toubro by Rs 20.10 at Rs 1,529.75.

Cement stocks such as Grasim Industries, ACC and Gujarat Ambuja also ended in positive territory with sizeable gains.
