Manish Arora wows audience in London

LONDON: Indian fashion designer Manish Arora carved out a niche for himself at the London Fashion Week with a brilliant rainbow coloured autumn-winter collection inspired by the early 1960s and collaged with a futuristic pattern.

With remote planets, flora and fauna, Arora depicted an ultra-modern future rife with sharp colours.

The ace designer used silk chiffon, organza, raw silk brocades and jaquard to win the heart of the packed gathering on the first day of the five-day show.

With a rich set of embroidered and psychedelic prints, the designer played with materials to add a sense of relief and optical illusions to dresses structured in a slight
trapeze, inspired by the early 1960s.

"I have come to the London Fashion week with a clean slate of expectation and hopes of garnering a new and relevant experience. This is an exciting time for Indian fashion and myself," Arora said.

He said the fabrics chosen by him were stiff and glossy, such as lurex, satins, wool and silks printed with metallic and luminescent dyes.

This was Arora's fourth London outing and he will now design a Levi's line.

Companies like Swarovski, Reebok, Waves Cinema and The British Council are sponsoring Arora at the London Fashion Week which will conclude on Friday.
