Actor Apoorva Agnihotri is striving hard to get over the image of Armaan sir with which he has been saddled with right from his hit show ‘Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin’.

If he played a boss to Mona Singh in ‘Jassi’, he’s playing a boss yet again to protagonist Survin Chawla in ‘Kajjal’ (Sony).

    ‘Kajjal’ woes

But right now, he doesn’t seem too happy with the way the track of ‘Kajjal’ is developing. He says that the love triangle between him and Survin has now developed into a triangle with actor Chetan Hansraj.

Apoorva says, “When I was narrated the subject, it held a lot of potential. However, the writer and the director were given the boot after the initial episodes. We need to work harder if we want to sustain the interest of the audiences. On television everything is TRP oriented. We should  pull up our socks and make ‘Kajjal’ better. If only I did not have a kitchen back home, I wouldn’t have done this serial at all.”

Apoorva also reveals that he declined the offer to participate in ‘Bigg Boss’ (Sony). “I’d rather climb Mount Everest than look at the same guys for three months,” he shoots.

    Directorial calling

Apoorva continues, “People often ask me as to why I am not working in any other serial besides ‘Kajjal’. I am  not capable of handling two to three shows at the same time. I am not in a position like Aamir Khan’s who is offered 20 scripts a year, reads four and selects just one. I know it is tough but then I like to burn my bridges. I do not like to look behind.”

Apoorva confesses, “I detest the idea of being taken for granted by filmmakers who cast TV stars in inconsequential roles. I’d rather do one good TV serial than do 10 B grade films.  I may stage a comeback in films but not as an actor but as a director. Just wait and watch!”
