HAFLONG: Two persons were killed and several injured when militants opened fired in a busy market in Assam's North Cachar Hills district on Wednesday evening.
The unidentified militants came to Umrangsu Bazar and fired on the people there killing two of them on the spot and injuring many, police sources said, adding the ultras then fled.
The shopkeepers downed their shutters and utter confusion prevailed with panic-stricken people running helter skelter for safety.
Senior district civil and police officials cordoned off the area, the sources added.
