SRINAGAR: Terror visited Kashmir again on Saturday when militants lobbed a powerful grenade on the cavalcade of former minister and National Conference  member of legislative council Sakeena Ittoo at Kulgam, killing five persons including NC district president and former MLA Ghulam Nabi Dar and injuring 30 others.

The injured include Sakeena Ittoo and four policemen. Sakeena was immediately shifted to Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences  for treatment. Eyewitness said they were on their way to Damhal Hanji Pora when some party workers insisted that the leaders visit the local shrine at Kulgam.

“The shrine was not on her itinerary and therefore was not sanitised. Militants exploited this and lobbed a grenade causing injuries to 32 people. Five of the injured later succumbed to their wounds. Around 18 injured were discharged after first aid,” a police officer said.
