HSC results: Girls corner glory

Girls cornered the honours in this year's Higher Secondary Certificate Examinations (HSC), the results of which were declared here on Monday.

MUMBAI: Girls cornered the honours in this year's Higher Secondary Certificate Examinations (HSC), the results of which were declared here on Monday.

The pass percentage of girls  was 77.15 while that of boys was 68.02.

A Nagpur girl, Ojaswita Parathe of the Shri Shivaji Science Junior College, has topped the HSC results, securing a whopping 98% marks (Science stream).

A close second is Pratik Divekar of Shree Shivaji Science College, Amravati, who scored 97.50% topping the state boys category and the backward class category. 

Deepa Suryavanshi of Mahatma Gandhi College, Latur, who secured 97.17% marks bagged the third rank.

Dhara Kishore Solanki of Sathaye College, Vile Parle, who secured 96.7%, got the top rank in the Mumbai Divisional Board. She is also the topper in the vocational courses category.

Aditya Khaitan of Narsee Monjee College, Vile Parle, has topped the Commerce stream securing 91.67% marks, while Dhanashree Thackeray of Ruparel College is the Arts stream topper, securing 87.17%.

Among night school students, Megha Andhari of the Women Night School & Junior College, Parel, is the topper with 90.33% marks.

In the physically challenged students category, Mini Nair of MES High School & Junior College, Panvel is the topper -- she secured 91% in the Science stream.

In the city merit list, Souravjit Mukherjee of Bhavan College, Andheri, stood second, securing 95.83% while Pratik Vadodariya of KC College, Churchgate stood third, securing 95.17%.

Mumbai Division has a total pass percentage of 76.27, from 2,13,234 students who appeared for the HSC exams. Last year, the HSC pass percentage was 74.80.

A total of 8,74,241 students appeared for the HSC exams this year in the State of which 6,28,045 (71.84%) have been declared successful, a shade better than last year's pass percentage of 68.01.
