Mahajan's death a big loss to the nation: BJP

NEW DELHI: BJP leaders expressed shock over the death of senior party leader Pramod Mahajan on Wednesday saying it was not only a big blow to the party but also to the nation as a whole.

"I am shocked. It's a great loss not just for BJP but for the country as a whole as you will not have a leader of his dynamism, energy and promise," senior party leader and former External Affairs Minister Yashwant Sinha said.

"It is a great loss for the country. It is a big heartbreak," he said.

Describing Mahajan as an "elder brother", BJP spokesman Ravishankar Prasad said he was an inspiration to the young generation of BJP leaders.

"It is a big blow to all of us. He was more of an elder brother to the whole generation of young leaders like me," Prasad said.
