350 developers may be blacklisted for failing to transfer houses

Pimpri-Chinchwad New Town Development Authority (PCNTDA) has decided to act tough against reality firms who have not transferred houses on purchasers’ names. The authority has given them three months to transfer the houses or their names will be blacklisted. Around 350 developers are under the authority’s scanner

PCNTDA president and divisional commissioner Prabhakar Deshmukh on Tuesday said, “During our discussion on transfer of properties at the PCNDTA meeting, we found that of the almost 400 plots sold by PCNTDA to developers to develop schemes for citizens only 100 developers have transferred the flats on purchasers’ name. The builders will also face legal action if they do not complete the transfer procedure within the stipulated period.”

PCNTDA chief executive officer Yogesh Mhase said that blacklisted builders will be unable to get any sanction for their projects in future.

Deshmukh said, “PCNTDA will also be setting up a special camp for citizens living in these developers’ schemes. The society members will also be trained to know the legal procedure regarding transfer of land. The camp will held at the PCNTDA office situated at Akurdi railway station.”

What went wrong
PCNTDA was basically formed to provide houses to workers living in Pimpri-Chinchwad area. The authority distributed residential plots to developers but after developing the plots, these developers never took any initiative to transfer these houses on purchasers’ name. Hence, buyers could not sell their properties and faced issues regarding dwelling. PCNTDA initiated action against builders after many residents approached the former to sort out the issue.
