Assam: Indian Army kills NDFB(S) militant in encounter

An AK-47 rifle with two magazines, 44 rounds of ammunition, two bags, two mobile phones, extortion notes, a solar power plate, clothes, blankets and some other materials were recovered from the slain insurgent.

An NDFB (Songbijit) militant was killed in an encounter on Tuesday with a joint police and Army team in Assam's Kokrajhar district, a senior police official said. The encounter took place at about 5.20 am between NDFB(S) cadres and security forces at Silaimatha forest area under Bogribari police station, IGP Dr LR Bishnoi said.

An AK-47 rifle with two magazines, 44 rounds of ammunition, two bags, two mobile phones, extortion notes, a solar power plate, clothes, blankets and some other materials were recovered from the slain insurgent. The deceased has been identified as Nerswn Brahma alias Naidaw, a cadre trained in Bangladesh, who was involved in the 2012 Bodo-Muslim violence, the IGP said.
