The Chatuhshrungi police have booked a woman, who allegedly attempted to break into the Z-security convoy of president Pratibha Patil at Range Hills on Monday afternoon.

The convoy of the president, on a three-day visit to the city, was heading towards Raj Bhavan on Aundh Road from Airport via Range Hills at around 3.30pm when the incident took place in front of HDFC Bank’s Range Hill branch in Ashoknagar.

Woman constable Manjusha Anagal of Bhosari police station, deputed at the spot, tried to stop the woman and warned her not to cross the road as the convoy was passing that way.

However, Anjali Sandeep Patil, 39, of Ashoknagar, walked on to the road. According to the Chatuhshrungi police, Patil wanted to hand over a memorandum to the president about controlling the fees of unaided schools in the country.

The woman jumped in front of the convoy to submit her application before the constables took her away. The convoy did not stop at the spot.

The police filed a complaint against Patil for alleged attempt to breach the presidential convoy.
