Woman cop falls off building in Mumbai, suicide bid suspected

A lady police sub-inspector, Deepali Karpe, fell off from the fourth floor of her residential building at Nehru Nagar in Kurla on Sunday evening, police said.

Karpe sustained multiple fractures and serious injuries and has been admitted to a private hospital, the police said.

The police suspect that Karpe might have attempted suicide but nothing could be confirmed, as her statement is yet to be recorded.

Karpe has been associated  with the Tilak Nagar police station for the past two years. According to the police, she is single and stays with her mother who has been unwell for a long time.

Neighbours, who saw her falling off the building, rushed her to Sushrut Hospital in Chembur. She has been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit and her condition is said to be critical.

At the time of going to press, the DCP himself was taking the statement of the sub-inspector.
