All that Parikshit Mandhir Siyal had to say in his defence, when caught with undeclared currency, at the Chatrapati Shivaji International Airport was that he was too tired to wait and declare his money. Reportedly, the managing director (MD) of a British Fishing Company, Siyal was not just found in possession of undeclared assorted foreign currency but also had no answers about the origin of the currency. “He had currency in form of dollars and dirhams. When asked where he got the money from, he said that a friend gave it to him or blamed it on his company,” said a source on condition of anonymity.

Intercepted by the team of assistant commissioner (customs) Sameer Wankhede, Siyal admitted to the carriage, possession and misdeclaration of the seized foreign currency and other goods including cell phones and laptop. “Foreign currency and goods valued at Rs6,22,844 were seized under the provision of the Customs Act, 1962 and The Foreign Act Management Act, 1999,” said Mahendra Pal, the Additional Commissioner of Air Intelligence Unit.
