Two injured as building portion collapses in Parel

A portion of Laxmi Nivas building, owned by the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) at Babasaheb Ambedkar Road in Parel in central Mumbai collapsed at 7.30 pm, fire brigade officials said.

At least two persons were injured after a portion of a building collapsed in Parel in central Mumbai this evening, fire brigade officials said.

A portion of Laxmi Nivas building, owned by the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) at Babasaheb Ambedkar Road in Parel in central Mumbai collapsed at 7.30 pm, they said.

"The two injured have been rushed to the nearby KEM hospital after a portion of the south side of the building collapsed. The identity of the injured has not been ascertained yet. The building was partially empty," fire officials said.

Four fire engines have been pressed into service, officials said, adding, rescue operations are on.
