It will also carry out a major exercise—‘Sudarshan Shakti’—in November and December this year in the desert to validate the operational preparedness of Southern Army in a tri-service environment.

Sudarshan Shakti will be based on the integrated theatre battle concept under the Southern Army Commander, Lt Gen AK Singh with 21 Corps in the lead and would be supported by all other relevant elements of Southern Army.

The unique feature of this exercise will be the collaboration between the Southern Army and its counterparts in the Indian Air Force and Indian Navy.

Clean-up drive of Mutha river
Cadets and officers of the National Defence Academy (NDA) joined hands with students and teachers from Kendriya Vidyalaya, NDA and Aruna Choudhury Madhyamik Vidyalaya to conduct a clean-up drive of Mutha river in the vicinity of Khadakwasla dam.
NDA has exclusive control over the Khadakwasla reservoir up to 25 km for the purpose of conducting training of the cadets and maintaining security near the lake.

The clean up operation, conducted under the aegis of the International Maritime Foundation, takes place every year to preserve the water source and sensitise the population around the dam to keep the environment clean.

The volunteers who were divided into teams, not only picked up trash but also recorded every item they found on standardised data cards giving a clear picture of the manufactured items impacting the health of the river and in turn the humans, wildlife and the ecology. The NDA has included this programme as an annual event on the occasion of International Coastal Clean-up Day.
