Three football players of Churchill Brothers were arrested by the Santa Cruz airport police for molesting an airhostess of SpiceJet on Tuesday. The team was on its way to Kolkata via Mumbai.

The team boarded the Spicejet Goa-Mumbai flight at 6pm from Dabolim airport. On board, the captain of the team Okolie Odafa Onyeka, 23, allegedly touched an airhostess, Sonakshi Bhamra (name changed). “He allegedly touched her derriere,” said a police officer.

“When she objected, Onyeka and his two friends — Kalu Ogba Nanna, 23, and Arindam Bhattacharya, 20 — got into a verbal altercation with her. After the passengers and the pilot intervened, they apologised.

However, the players reportedly continued to pass lewd comments against Bhamra. The matter was then reported to the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). As soon as the flight landed in Mumbai around 7.30pm, the CISF took charge of the football players and handed them over to the police.

Confirming the news, the spokesperson for SpiceJet said that the matter is under investigation.”

Joaquim Alemao, co-owner of Churchill Brothers, said, “What happened was a mistake and they even apologised for it. We will sue Spicejet for defamation.”
