In a shocking incident, a teenager who happened to witness three drunkards robbing another youngster was brutally beaten to death by the drunkards. The deceased’s friend too was severely beaten by the suspects. The three drunkards were later arrested by the police.
According to the police, the incident occurred late on Friday night when the victim Sachin Nandgavale was squatting with another friend, Arun Yadav, in an open ground in Oshiwara. When, the deceased was sitting in the ground with his friend, they saw a gang of three drunkards beating and robbing another youngster, Mahendra Maurya.
On seeing Maurya being robbed, beaten Nandgavale and Jadhav tried to raise an alarm, the police said. The drunkards ran towards Nandgavale and Jadhav and attacked them with bamboos. “The suspects singled out Nandgavale and severely beat him on his head. His skull cracked and Nandgavale collapsed on the spot,” the police said.
After Nandgavale collapsed the drunkards beat up Maurya and Jadhav and left them severely injured. Following the incident, the Oshiwara police arrested the three drunkards, who have been identified as Sunil Karwar, 19, Prashad Jadhav, 21 and Punit Gauda, 17. They all are residents of Ganesh Nagar area in Jogeshwari (West), the police said. Preliminary enquiries revealed that the suspects were not only drunk but had also consumed drugs.
“Nandgavale sustained fatal injuries on his head and died in the hospital while Yadav is in critical condition in Cooper hospital. Maurya is also injured badly but anyhow he succeed to escape from there and informed to the nearby shopkeepers” said deputy commissioner of police, KMM Prasanna.
