Thane police bust admissions racket, arrest three

With the arrest of three persons including a couple, Thane police today claimed to have busted a gang which promised to procure admissions to management and engineering institutes in the neighbouring Mumbai for money.

Shree Nagar police here said that another three persons were wanted.

Police said Dinesh Suresh Solanki alias Raj, his wife Deepali and Dyaneshwar Nathji Dhamre alias Nanu Bhai had been arrested while Dileep Trivedi, Amit Singh and Vijay Rao were still at large.

Sub-inspector DS Barge, who is investigating the case, said the accused took Rs2.17 lakh from Akash Kishore Ragde, promising him to get admission to BMS course at NM College, and Rs85 thousand from Rajkumar Vishvakarma, promising admission to engineering course at the Thakur college at Kandivili.

The two complained to police when they did not the get the admission.

The accused have been booked under section 420 (cheating) and other relevant sections of IPC.
