Tata Power writes another green chapter

Tata Power has joined hands with Pune-based Ela Foundation to undertake a study of the aquatic biodiversity of six lakes in Maval and Mulshi talukas in Pune district.

The holistic documentation of the available species of flora and fauna in and around the lakes and their catchment areas is critical for making available scientific baseline data.

The information will enable an effective conservation programme based on regular monitoring and implementation of relevant conservation initiatives.

The head (hydros) of Tata Power, Mahesh Paranjpe, said the study would provide further impetus to the ongoing conservation initiatives of Tata Power, one of the country’s largest integrated private power firms.

“It reiterates the commitment and dedication of the Tata Power towards maintaining and enhancing the ecological diversity of the region,” he said.

Tata Power and Ela Foundation has also documented and published a book on ‘Birds of Lonavla and Khandala’ and ‘The Orchids of the Northern Western Ghats’.
