The visit of the members of Super Car Club (SCC) of India to the Mercedes-Benz India Ltd (MBIL) factory at Chakan on Saturday morning was an exhilarating one. From the high-end Mercedes cars to Lamborghini to Porsche Boxster, the MBIL factory’s parking area was full with some of the high-end luxury cars. While the visit to the Mercedes assembly line fascinated all, it was the latest AMG range of high performance cars that wooed the group.

“We started with the club three years ago and this visit is like a gathering for the like minded super car enthusiasts to come and share their likes and passion for super cars. It gives us an opportunity to interact with other super car club members. Cars fascinate us and when Mercedes offered to host us for a morning at their Pune plant, it sounded like the perfect getaway for us,’’ said Gautam Singhania, chairman and managing director, Raymond group of companies and a member of the SCC.

“It was great to see the plant and actually get into the technicalities of the car at the MBIL factory. We have three chapters in Mumbai, Delhi and Chennai. Once in a year, we have our super car parade where members from all the three chapters meet and interact,’’ added Singhania.

Interestingly, Sinhgania owns a 1953 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL convertible car. “In that year, only 4 cars were made and I have one of them,’’ he added.

Actor Arjan Bajwa also came in his Porche Boxter car and shared his passion for super cars. “I am a car fanatic since I was a kid and it was a nice experience to see the assembling of the cars at MBIL factory,’’ said Bajwa.

Mohan Mariwala, managing director of Auto Hangar (India) Pvt Ltd who is one of the dealers for Mercedes-Benz passenger vehicles was also present. “For me, it is like coming home as the Mercedes AMGs represent the zenith of automotive excellence and it was great to get a ride-drive experience with these cars,’’ said Mariwala.
