Owner of Satyam restaurant, Ashok Jadhav, who had announced free misal to Puneites if India beat Pakistan in the ICC World Cup semi-finals on Wednesday, saw nearly 2,500 people flocking to avail of the offer at his eatery in Sadashiv Peth on Thursday.
Jadhav had declared on Tuesday that patrons buying one plate of misal would get another free, if India enter the final.

He kept his promise and customers started pouring in since 6 am to celebrate India’s win in a unique way. Misal lovers waited in a queue to get their parcels, blocking the lane leading towards Bharat Natya Mandir.

Jadhav said, “Around 2,750 people had registered their names with us. Around 2,500 have taken away their parcels. I was sure that India would win, and we are celebrating the victory together.”
The entire Jadhav family was busy dishing out misal parcels.

“Initially we were hesitant after getting so many orders, but with the support of well wishers we could keep our word,” he said.
He is also planning to keep the offer valid till April 1, as some failed to visit the joint on Thursday.

“This time we couldn’t give registration numbers to customers. But next time I am planning to give them a token number and a fixed time to collect their orders,” Jadhav said.

A standard XII student of NMV College, Tripuri Lele, who came from Tilak Road to collect the parcel said, “I heard about this offer on radio. Though I haven’t eaten here before but seeing the crowd, I feel it would be yummy.”

Anjali Mokashi, a housewife, came all the way from Sinhagad Road to get a flavour of the misal. “I got to know about this offer through newspapers. Today I am going to celebrate Team India’s win with misal,” she said.

Jadhav has also some interesting plans if India win the final against Sri Lanka on Saturday. “I am sure that our men in blue will fetch the World Cup this time and there will be some interesting offers for Puneites,” he said, but refused to reveal details.
