Aditya Jaiprakash Mehta always wanted to become an engineer but the 24-year-old Delhi youth's dreams crashed as death came calling in the form of a terror attack in Pune days before his final exams.

The Delhi lad breathed his last this morning at a Pune hospital, where he was battling for life since last Saturday after he became victim of a blast when he was sipping coffee at a popular bakery in the town in Maharashtra.

He was pursuing Electronics and Communications in Bharatiya Vidyapeeth, an engineering college in Pune, and was to appear for final examinations in a few days. He was also preparing for GRE to go abroad for higher studies.

"He was an intelligent student and hard-working guy. I taught him Maths during vacations. He was so talented that he used to complete a semester syllabus in just 15 days," retired scientist BH Singh, a neighbour, said.

Aditya was a resident of Rohini Sector-8 A Block where his family -- parents and a sister Misha who is pursuing MBA at IP University -- stays. His father JP Mehta is a businessman while mother Meera is a housewife.

Neighbours and friends are still finding it hard to believe that the "very talented" Aditya has succumbed to his injuries.

One of his friends, Ashok, remembers him as a boy who was equally talented in studies as well as football. "He was very much interested in football," he said.

OP Sharma, an office bearer of the Residents' Welfare Association of Sector-8 Rohini, said they knew him very well.

"He was a talented boy. He grew before us and has left us now. I remember he used to play with other boys," he said.

Before going to Pune, Aditya had completed his schooling from Bal Bharati School in Rohini.

The cremation is expected to take place tomorrow.
