Nearly 48 hours after the murder of a 21-year-old trainee engineer working at IBM, the Pune police are still to get any clues.

On Friday night, Darshana Devidas Tongare was stabbed to death near Suvarna Society at Bavdhan. Police said they were investigating whether the cause of the murder was a one-sided love affair. “But we have not made much headway,” a police source said Meeran Borwankar, commissioner of Pune police, said: “Our teams are working closely and will solve it as soon as possible,” Borwankar said.

The police are questioning construction workers. “The suspect stabbed the victim near a plot where construction labourers live,” a source explained.

The police said Darshana’s parents had crossed the spot a few minutes before the incident. “Also, her father usually picked her up from the bus stop. But on Friday her friend dropped her home.”

The police have questioned a man from Beed who was harassing the victim for the past six months.
