Chief accountant of PMC said considering the holidays and request by citizens, the civic body has decided to extend it to August 31.
The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has extended the last date for submission of suggestions for development works under the citizens’ participatory budget to August 31 following requests from NGOs.
Chief accountant of PMC, Ulka Kalaskar, told DNA that earlier the last date for proposals was August 18, but considering the holidays and request by citizens, the civic body has decided to extend it to August 31.
President of National Society for Clean Cities (NSCC), Pune, Satish Khot, said that NGOs NSCC and Janwani had approached the municipal commissioner with a request to extend the deadline for submission of proposals.
Meanwhile, NGOs in the city - Janwani (MCCIA), NSCC, Centre for Environment Education (CEE) and Parivartan have requested citizens of Pune to suggest civil works for the forthcoming budget.
They said for giving suggestions, citizens will have to fill up forms designed by the PMC for the purpose. These forms are available at each ward office. Citizens will have to fill up the forms and submit it to the ward officer. The forms are also available on PMC’s website www.punecorporation.org.
The suggestions for civil works like construction of footpaths, bicycle tracks, roads, drains, public toilets, streetlights and other suggestions can be given to the PMC. The works suggested in the earlier budget and repair works will not be accepted.
Each suggested civil work should not exceed Rs5,00,000. The budgetary provision made for citizen recommendations from each electoral ward is Rs25,00,000. To get an idea on how the civic works are budgeted, log on to www.janwani.org or call on 2570 9010/12.
