Pune college student murdered by friends

Kuldeep, alias Bhau Pandurang Kale, (17) a college student, was fatally assaulted by four of his friends with sharp-edged weapons on Saturday in Pimpri over a petty quarrel that erupted when playing cricket the previous day.

Kuldeep, a resident of Laltopinagar in Pimpri, was playing cricket on Friday night when his friend, Akshay Bansode, was hit on the head by someone. This infuriated Akshay, who quit play, but returned with three other friends armed with a chopper, wooden stick and a knife.

They assaulted Kuldeep, who had to be taken to Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial Hospital. He was later shifted to a private hospital, where he died while undergoing treatment on Saturday morning.

Kuldeep’s elder brother, Sandeep, lodged an FIR at Pimpri police station on Saturday afternoon against Akshay Bansode, Ravi Chavan, Gopal and Santosh Nagoche. No arrests have been made so far.

In another incident, Ajay Ram Pandit (28), a resident of Hadapsar, got into a petty argument with an unidentified mentally challenged youth. This led to Pandit assaulting the youth with an iron rod on Friday night. The victim was rushed to a hospital, but was declared brought dead. The police have filed an FIR.
