Police punished for napping back on duty

Worli police station’s senior police inspector Vasant Tajne, who was transferred to the police control room by police commissioner Arup Patnaik two weeks ago for napping in the antechamber of the police station was re-appointed to the same police station on Tuesday.

On March 20, the day of Holi, Patnaik paid a surprise visit to the police station at around 3.45pm to check on the security arrangements and found Tajne sleeping, even as a few visitors were waiting to meet him.While Patnaik sat waiting for Tajne it took him eight to ten minutes to come out of antechamber.
Upset with his behaviour, Patnaik transferred him and asked another police inspector to hold additional charge of the police station.
