The Dindoshi sessions court on Wednesday granted anticipatory bail of Rs50,000 each to Nidhi Gupta’s brother-in-law Rakesh, father-in-law Murarilal and mother-in-law Sangeeta.

The trio, who had been untraceable after Nidhi’s’s suicide, were present in the court during the hearing of their anticipatory bail application.

The court has laid down a condition that all the three should report to the Dindoshi police station on every Tuesday and Friday. “They have been asked to produce themselves at the police station and if they fail to do that, we will inform the court about their absence,” said Vinayak Kakade, senior police inspector of Dindoshi police station.

The police had arrested Nidhi’s sister-in-law Sunita on Monday while her husband Pawan was arrested on Tuesday. Both have been remanded in police custody till March 21.

Nidhi committed suicide on March 8 by jumping off from the 19th floor of the 21-storey building in Sahyadri Housing Complex after tossing her two children, Gaurav, 6, and Mihika, 3.

Nidhi’s father Bimal Jalan had alleged that his daughter was being mentally tortured and harassed by Pawan and his family.

Subsequently, the Dindoshi police registered a case of abetment of suicide and dowry harassment on March 1 against her husband and in-laws  based on the statement given by Jalan.

However, her in-laws maintain there were no tensions in the family. In fact, they claim to be baffled and say they fail to understand what triggered Nidhi’s drastic step.
