You will not have any respite from the dry spell for the next few days.
The weathermen predicted that the lull in the monsoon will continue for the next 36 hours. An IMD forecast said that the weather systems, which trigger bountiful rain, are at an inactive stage.
"We will see a lull in the monsoon. Rainfall is unlikely for the next three days. But we expect the monsoon to gain momentum after this week," said VK Rajeev, director IMD Western region.
The city has been witnessing sporadic rain for the past one week.
Less than 25mm of rain has been recorded in the last one week. IMD officials said that July and August is the pinnacle of monsoon, wherein 60% of the monsoon is recorded.
"There is a gradual reduction in the rainfall intensity. The required off shore turf is not at the optimum level. Also the cross equatorial winds are not supporting the monsoon," said Rajeev.
The interior parts of the state too have hardly seen much rain.
However, officials said this is a trend and not a cause of worry.
"There is nothing usual. Every year, we see an oscillatory behaviour in rainfall. It is a cycle --- the peak of monsoon is followed by a lull which again picks up," he added.
