Just when businessmen of Zaveri Bazaar thought that life was returning to normal after police cleared the blast site on Friday, presence of crows over the fourth floor of a five-storey building raised an alarm.

On a closer look, eyewitnesses found that the birds were gathering to feast on the remains of a body of one of the blast victims. “It was difficult to identify the body as there was only a torso clinging on to the board of DD Plaza, a jewellery mall,” eyewitnesses said.

“We could not have imagined that a body could have flung so high due to the impact of the blast. For long it was even difficult to decide which part of the body it was. However, the police and fire brigade were immediately informed,” said Anil Zaveri, a businessman.

The torso was pulled out by the police and fire brigade personnel.
“There cannot be a more unfortunate death than this where the families get to see their loved ones in pieces like this while they are not even sure if the part of the body is of their relative indeed,” said another businessman Mihan Singh Rajput.

This was not the only such incident in Zaveri Bazaar. On Thursday, a hand was seen hanging on the third floor of another building. Vyom Shah, who works at the Bherumal building, said he had seen a hand on the 3rd floor of the opposite building.

“We were told by a Nepali worker that he was shooed away by the police when he went to inform them about spotting a hand. However, when we saw the hand and informed the police, then they went to the building and took the hand off,” said Shah.
