With two days of incessant heavy rains flooding most parts of the city, once again put the Shiv Sena-led Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has been put on the back foot. But, on Monday, the party's youth wing Yuva Sena came to its rescue.

While Sena corporators were busy tackling tough questions on the city's crumbling infrastructure and explaining why the pumping stations installed at chronic waterlogging spots had failed, activists of the Aditya Thackeray-led Yuva Sena sent chain text messages to citizens alerting them on areas that are waterlogged and what the BMC has done to take care of the situation.

The SMS listed helpline numbers of the BMC’s disaster management cell, a website address on the latest monsoon condition and the traffic situation and finally an appeal to send the text message to as many Mumbaikars as possible.

“Adityaji is the new age leader. This [SMS] was to help Mumbaikars,” said Amol Kirtikar, general secretary, Yuva Sena.
