The ‘Hugging Saint’, Mata Amritanandamayi — better known as Amma — would arrive in her Nigdi Math in Yamunanagar on March 2. It will mark the launch of the Amala Bharatam campaign in Pune city.
A nationwide campaign, launched by the Mata Amritanandamayi Math, is aimed at cleaning India’s public places and national highways. Mata Amritanandamayi’s two-day sojourn will be celebrated with discourses, meditation and bhajans.
She will be giving personal darshan to each and every devotee at the Math in the early hours of March 3. In order to install the feeling of cleanliness, Amma will be handing over a handkerchief to each and every child coming for her darshan.
The Amala Bharatam campaign was launched by Amma on her 57th birthday last year, announcing that the Mata Amritanandamayi Math was ready to take up the responsibility of constructing toilets and installing trash bins in government schools and along the roads all over the country.
She appealed to the state and central governments for cooperation. “Lets us take a vow to clean our surroundings along with the government. I am sure this endeavour will be successful,” she stated.
