“I am filing a writ petition in the Bombay high court on Monday against the election commission for deleting the stretch from Baner phata to Chaitraban Society from Aundh ward,” said Madhukar Musale, advocate and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) aspiring candidate from Aundh’s Panel No. 8 for the forthcoming civic polls.

Musale said although the Congress corporators of Aundh claim to have done a lot of work for the area, he has obtained information under the Right To Information Act, 2005, showing that disproportionate allocations were made for Aundh in the civic budget.

“While Rs55 lakh was allocated to Aundh Gaothan, barely Rs14 lakh was allocated to the rest of Aundh,” he said.

On public gardens for Aundh, Musale said reservation for gardens exist in the 1987 Development Plan for the last 24 years, but no garden has come up.

“The 7.5-acre plot in Survey No. 125 is being wasted for such a long time,” he said.

Discussing the problems of encroachment and lack of parking space in Aundh, Musale said the work in Aundh ward was slow and careless. “The bottleneck on ITI Road, between Ozone Mall and Baner Road, is one of the biggest examples,” he said.

He said the increase in number of stalls near DAV Public School was worsening, and blamed the mushrooming of malls and multiplexes in the area for compounding parking problems of Aundh.

Besides, the buildings that were erected for the low-income groups in the area are lying vacant for a long time, which amounted to waste of public exchequer.

Musale pointed out that the walking plaza on ITI Road shows a cycle track on paper, but is non-existent.
