Man falls in Lonavla gorge, dies

A man from Jambhali Naka in Thane on Sunday lost his life in Lonavla while celebrating India’s win against Sri Lanka in the cricket World Cup match.

An employee of a private telecom company, Virendra Pratap Rathod (29) fell down a 400-foot gorge, Tiger Point. The police recovered his body after a four-hour search operation.

The police said the victim and three friends reached Lonavla. They went to Tiger Point and had beer. Virendra went to the edge of the gorge, lost his balance and fell.
