Maharashtra governor K Sankaranarayanan in his capacity as the chancellor of universities in the state today appointed vice-chancellors for four universities in Pune, Nashik, Nagpur and Raigad.

Dr N J Pawar, Professor and Head, Department of Geology, University of Pune has been appointed as the new Vice Chancellor of Shivaji University, Kolhapur, a release from
governor office said.
   
Dr R K Shevgaonkar, Deputy Director and Professor of Electrical Engineering, IIT Mumbai was named as the vice chancellor of University of Pune, the release said.

The governor also appointed Dr R Krishnakumar, former principal, Dr Ambedkar College, Nagpur as the vice chancellor
of Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University, Nashik.

He appointed Dr R B Mankar, Director, Laxminarayan Institute of Technology, Nagpur as the vice chancellor of the Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Technological University, Lonere, Dist. Raigad, it added.

The appointments were made by the governor after holding detailed interaction with each one of the candidates recommended by the respective Search Committees. Their
appointments are for a period of five years.

Meanwhile, the governor yesterday dissolved the existing search committee for the selection of vice chancellor of the University of Mumbai.

A new search committee will now be constituted and the process of selection of vice chancellor of University of Mumbai would be started afresh.
