his home in Indira Nagar at Ghatkopar on October 23 was found at Kankavli railway station on Wednesday morning.

“On Wednesday morning, the culprit was with the kid at Kankavli railway station,” inspector Uttam Kolekar from Ghatkopar police station said. “When he saw the news of a kid being kidnapped in newspapers, he got scared.

He told a person to look after the kid while he would get
a ticket.”The officer said that the person waited with the kid for a long time. “When the man did not turn up, he took handed the kid over to the Railway Protection Force (RPF),” he said. “One of the RPF officials had read about a three-year-old kid being kidnapped from Ghatkopar. They got in touch with us. We sent a team to Kankavli to bring back the kid.”

“When Aditya was asked about the whereabouts of the person he had gone with, he said, I was with my uncle but could not elaborate.

“Once he is brought to Mumbai, we will again try to talk with him to get details about the person.

“We suspect that the culprit is known to the kid. A medical examination has been conducted and the kid is safe and sound,” another officer from the Ghatkopar crime branch said.

While playing outside his home on October 23, Aditya Gavde went missing. His mother Lalita reported the matter to the police who initially registered a missing complaint.

On subsequent investigations, the police concluded that it was a case of kidnapping. The police also found an eyewitness who testified to the fact that Aditya was seen going with a stranger who was in his mid-fifties.

The police have got a sketch made from details given by the eye-witness. “It was later circulated among the local people and other police stations,” another officer said.

Aditya will be brought to Mumbai on Thursday morning.
