The fall of the Sensex proved very costly for a newly-wedded couple, who allegedly committed suicide at their residence in Kalwa, on Friday.

The deceased couple has been identified as Suhas Vasudev Parab, 30, and his wife Supriya alias Shilpa, 30. They were staying in the flat 301 of Parijat Society in Manisha Nagar. Their absence was noticed by their neighbours who then informed the police.

The police and the relatives of Parab family were greeted by a locked door. The couple’s phones were switched off. They broke open the door and found Suhas hanging from a fan while Shilpa was lying dead on the bed.

Primary investigations revealed that Shilpa appeared to have received a blow at the back of her head. “Post mortem reports will reveal the exact cause of their deaths,” said senior inspector Arune Sonde from Kalwa police station.

Police also found a note in the room, believed to be written by Suhas, which states that the reason of the suicide was the sudden fall in Sensex. Police officials are waiting for the reports of handwriting experts.

According to police Suhas and Shilpa were married in June 2011. Suhas was working with a private investment company.
