Jewellery shops in Pune looted by hooded men

Three men with their faces covered with handkerchiefs broke into Bharat Jewellers in Kasarwadi and decamped with 5.5 kg silver statues, valued at Rs1.81 lakh, on Wednesday morning.

The CCTV at the shop captured the action of suspects.

The shop owner, Bharat Vamanrao Suryavanshi (35) of Kasarwadi, has lodged a complaint with the Bhosari police station. According to the police, the thieves knew about the CCTV camera, hence they hid their faces. They broke the shop lock, stole the valuables and fled.

In another incident, unidentified persons broke into a jewellery shop in Sangamwadi early on  Wednesday decamped with gold and silver ornaments and Rs52,000. The total value of the loot was estimated at Rs20 lakh. A complaint has been registered by shop owner, Ganesh  Tarase (Pawar) (28), of Janwadi.
