Independent corporator urges Anna Hazare to contest from Pune

Independent corporator Ujwal Keskar has urged noted social activist Anna Hazare to contest the Lok Sabha election from Pune as a reply to the challenge thrown to him by the Congress and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).

Keskar told mediapersons on Wednesday that the ruling Congress and NCP had challenged Hazare to contest the election.

“He should contest election from Pune Lok Sabha constituency. The city has made history many times. It would support Hazare wholeheartedly,” he added.

He said that during the recent agitation by Hazare, more than 15,000 citizens participated in a march in the city, against corruption.

He said that his organisation, Apla Parisar, would work to ensure Hazare’s success in the election. He would also launch a cyber campaign to request Hazare to contest the election from the city.
He said that the present MP of the city, Suresh Kalmadi, was caught in the Commonwealth Games (CWG) controversy.

“The city needs an MP with a clean image,” he added.
