The unidentified hacker who has been on a hacking spree since he hacked into the email account of public relations professional and then hacked into accounts of the journalists in her address book is suspected to be an Indian national.

The initial investigation shows that the hacker is operating from Andhra Pradesh but further enquiries are on to locate the exact IP address from where the accused is operating.

On Friday, Janki Parashar’s email account was hacked after which she filed a complaint regarding the same with the cyber police station. Her ordeal didn’t stop there.

The hacker, who was still accessing Parashar’s account, started threatening her with dire consequences and asked her to come on webcam.

During investigation, it came to light that not only Parashar, but the hacker used the same modus operandi with several other females who were on Parashar’s friend list.

A Mumbai-based female journalist also registered a complaint against the accused with the BKC cyber police station.

“We have written to Google about the email accounts being hacked into. We are going through the log details of the accounts and trying to trace the exact details from where the hacker is operating from,” said a police officer.

The police say that the hacker had written some things which indicated that he could be someone known to one of the victims. They are also checking the log records of the account from where the initial malicious code was sent to Parashar.
