The Pune rural police have finally handed over the ‘elusive’ character certificate to Haushiram Eknath Tengle (24), hailing from Koyali village in Khed taluka of Pune district.
Apparently, the Pune rural police acted with alacrity after DNA reported in its July 25 edition (‘Character certificate from Pune cops elusive’) how Haushiram was running from pillar to post for the last three months for that certificate.
He was called up by the staff of the Pune rural police headquarters at Pashan and handed over the certificate on July 28.
Haushiram joined a private firm in the industrial area in Ranjangaon and his employers had told him to submit such a certificate from the police.
It is mandatory to submit such a certificate for a person applying for a job with a private firm.
He had applied to Alandi police requesting for such a certificate.
After the news appeared in DNA, the new Pune rural superintendent of police, Sandip Karnik, had a meeting with the officials concerned.
“We have decided that henceforth all character certificates, passport-related work and no-objection certificates would be issued within 15 days,” he said.
Haushiram thanked DNA for helping him out.
“I am really relieved and happy that I have got the certificate. Now I can submit my certificate to the company and get my confirmation letter from it,” he said, adding that such problems look minor but are important for people
like him.
His relative, Sandeep Pokale, said, “This issue is not only limited to Haushiram. There are many who were not getting their certificates in the past,” he said, adding that he hoped such problems would not arise in the future.
