Eve teaser nabbed in Pimprigaon

Students of a college and local residents in Pimprigaon area on Tuesday morning nabbed an eve teaser who used to harass school and college girls by asking them their address and showing them obscene pictures. The local police had planned to trap the suspect with the help of college students and  local
residents.

The suspect, a Tempo driver, has been identified as Augustin Karat, 30, a resident of Samarth Colony in Kalewadi.

An 18-year-old girl of Mahatma Phule College of Commerce lodged a first information report at Pimpri police station against the suspect. She said the suspect used to tease girls for a long time.

Deputy commissioner of police, Dnyaneshwar Chavan, said the police had received complaints from students and parents about the suspect.  “He used to behave indecently with girls. We had increased patrolling near educational institutions. We were trying to nab him for quite some time,’’ he added.

On Tuesday at 6.30 am, some youths of the area and students laid a trap near the college premises in Pimprigaon. The moment he started interacting with the victim and tried to show her obscene pictures on his cellphone, he was nabbed, sub-inspector Vitthal Dalvi said.

Karat was produced before judicial magistrate (first class) and remanded in magisterial custody.
