Eminent artistes to perform in Pune

Swarsagar, one of the most prestigious three-day music festivals of Pimpri-Chinchwad, will see performances by eminent artistes like flautist, Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia, and vocalists, Pandit Hridaynath Mangeshkar and Rahul Deshpande, to name a few.

Swarsagar will be held at the Ramkrishna More auditorium in Chinchwad, from March 14 to 16, 5 pm onwards. The event has been conceptualised and directed by sitarist Sameep Kulkarni, who has performed across the globe and has over 590 concerts to his credit.

With the aim to promote classical and fusion music, he started with a fusion group called ‘Saaz’ in the year 2000. An engineer by profession, he started playing the tabla when he was hardly six.

On March 14, Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia will be on stage while on March 15, Sameep will present a fusion with Sameer Suryawanshi on the tabla, Amit Joshi on the drums and Anay Gadgil on the synthesiser. Pandit Hridaynath Mangeshkar has been scheduled to perform on march 16.

“I am performing for the first time at Swarsagar and I am looking forward to my performance. We will be presenting three compositions based on Raga Yaman, which will commence with an aalap and will have some classical oriented folk compositions in the end,’’ said Kulkarni.
