Carpenter tries to kill neighbours

Santacruz police, on Wednesday, arrested a carpenter, who sprayed poisonous gas in his neighbour's house with the intention of revenge. The three occupants of the house are currently recuperating at a civic hospital. They are said to be out of danger.

The accused identified as Babulal Mistry, 40, has been arrested on charge of attempt to murder. Witnesses said that Mistry got into a feud with his neighbour Hiralal Balkeshwar over a trivial issue on Tuesday night. The accused, in a fit of rage, reportedly threw a chemical inside Balkeshwar's room. He later locked the door.

Balkeshwar and his brothers, who were inside the room, started suffocating. They called for help  and the neighbours rushed in to help them. "They were rushed to a hospital," said M Chaudharie, senior police inspector, of Santacruz police station.

Initial investigation reveal that the accused is a local goon and has been harassing the residents for quite some time.
