The additional superintendent of police (Baramati division), Meghashyam Ramchandra Malegaonkar, is among police officials in the state selected for the President’s medal for
distinguished service, names of whom were announced on the eve of Independence Day. 

Six police personnel from the city have also been selected for decoration for meritorious service.  

Of these, three are from the anti-corruption bureau, Pune: inspector Arun Waykar, assistant police inspector Bhagwan Ramchandra Patil and assistant police sub-inspector Sakharam
Desai.

Police assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Waman Godse of Yerawada police station, ASI Dnyandeo Mhetre of Mundhwa police station and head constable Subharao Lad (Swargate), have been selected.

Malegaonkar expressed happiness about his selection for the award and complimented his wife for her support, due to which he could discharge his duties zealously.

Lad was happy his name has figured on the list of awardees. “My 30 years of honesty and hard work have been recognised. The credit goes to my officers who trust me, and to my family who sacrificed for me and missed me on every occasion when they wanted me around,” he remarked.
