Anna Hazare to voters: Go by your conscience

Hazare declared he would not support any candidate or party for the forthcoming municipal elections in Pune and other parts of Maharashtra, but appealed to voters to use go by their conscience to elect only clean candidates.

Veteran Gandhian, Anna Hazare, on Monday declared he would not support any candidate or party for the forthcoming municipal elections in Pune and other parts of Maharashtra, but appealed to voters to use go by their conscience to elect only clean candidates.

This statement by Anna Hazare was declared at a press conference held by Bhrashtachar Virodhi Jan Andolan Trust, Pune.
KD Pawar, president of the trust said, "All of us will work on spreading awareness about the importance of voting and will appeal to citizens to come out and vote for the right candidate only after studying the background of the candidate."

Shankar Takade, the media-coordinator of the trust announced, "We will organise awareness programmes in areas where citizens demand."

The trust's office-bearers, along with Hazare, appealed to voters to beware of candidates who falsely use Hazare's name for campaigning.

"The voter is king and should scrutinise the candidates before voting during the forthcoming elections," the statement added.
