All, it seems, is not well at the Cricket Club of India. The institution is getting mired in one controversy after another. It has now come to light that Ekta Thakur, a member of the club’s executive committee, has been asked to appear before a disciplinary committee for criticising the executive panel’s style of functioning.

Thakur accused CCI’s chief executive officer and secretary Kamaljeet Rajpal of indecent behaviour. In a rejoinder to the showcause notice served on her, she stated: “I regret to say that the behaviour of the secretary was rude and provocative, bordering on the autocratic. As an office bearer, he (Rajpal) must set standards of courtesy to be followed.”

Thakur also accused the secretary of using foul language, claiming to be in possession of emails and video evidence substantiating her charges. She said that Rajpal had embarked on a campaign of vendetta, victimisation and abuse of power, along with club president Badal Mittal.

“Many untrue and  defamatory allegations about me appear to have been spread by them.” She added that member Manish Adnani accused her of silly-speak against the executive committee when she sought clarification on account statements.

Rajpal refrained from commenting on the issue. “The inquiry is on and the disciplinary committee is hearing the case. The committee meeting has been postponed. The new date has not been issued,” he said.
