3 Iranians held in Pune for assaulting woman constable

Three Iranian nationals, including a woman, were arrested by Yerawada police for allegedly manhandling and assaulting a woman constable who came to their assistance on Wednesday night at Gold Adlab multiplex in Kalyaninagar, Pune.

The constable, Shweta Shinde, lodged an FIR at Yerawada police station against Mariya Abbas Gyur (26), a resident of Bhrama Society in Wadgaon Sheri and her two friends, Mashid Mehamod (25) and Hamam Keam Khani (24) both residents of
Kalyaninagar.

The police said that Mariya was returning home in her car were she grazed against a motorcycle near Gold Adlab. Mariya and the motorcyclist started arguing and she allegedly assaulted him.

Soon Mariya’s friends also arrived at the spot. When Shweta Shinde rushed to spot to resolve the dispute, Mashid and Hamam allegedly manhandled the constable. The trio were arrested by the police and remanded incustody, but later granted bail.
