Parumita Bhattacharya is a native of Agartala. The police said that she indulged in the crime to live lavishly with her lesbian partner who stays in Tripura.

They said she started staying on rent in a flat owned by Usha Misra, 62, the complainant, in 2006. With her gift of the gab and helpful nature, she soon developed good relations with the family.
