Woman killed by husband for not cooking mutton sukka

A verbal spat with her husband on Sunday cost Sakhu Dhangda, 35, her life. After declining her husband's demand of having mutton sukka for dinner, Dhangda was thrashed repeatedly and eventually died. The Dahanu police have arrested the husband for murder.

As per the Dahanu police, the deceased, a resident of Ganjaad in Dahanu, had a verbal dispute with her husband, Babu Dhangda on Sunday evening. After being denied mutton sukka for dinner, Babu threatened his wife with dire consequences, should she fail to comply with his wishes.

A Dahanu police officer said, "After reaching home, Babu enquired about dinner. When she denied cooking the dish, a heated argument ensued between the couple. Babu thrashed her with a bamboo stick and wooden blocks, which led to her death."

About Babu's failed escape plan, the official said, "He tried to flee but locals soon began gathering near his residence, nabbed him and then handed him over to us. We have seized the weapon used in the murder."

Nagesh Jadhav, police inspector, Dahanu police station, said, "We have registered the case under IPC section 302 (murder) and will produce him before Palghar court."
